I’ve been a student of dogs all my life. According to Mom, my second word was “dog” and there wasn’t even one in the family at the time. I love learning about the evolution of dogs, their biology and behavior, the different breeds and their histories, and all the ways humankind and caninekind have partnered together over the millennia. As an artist, dogs are one of my favorite subjects. I had a variety of dogs over the years and loved them all, but I didn’t get my first Airedale until 1990. Do you remember that old V-8 commercial where a guy takes a sip, slaps his head, and exclaims “I could have had a V-8?” That’s the way I felt. All those years when I could have had an Airedale! I currently live with my third and fourth Airedales. Eight-year-old Lola (Ch Stirling Laughing Out Loud) and three-year-old Punch (Gr Ch Kyna’s Queensberry Rules). I enjoy participating in dog sports with my dogs, but I confess to being a lazy trainer. I do tracking and agility with Punch and obedience with Lola. One of these days we’ll get around to entering trials :-). I’ve been involved with the Quilt since 2004. I enjoy working on these labors of love with a great community of Airedale enthusiasts.
