Rose Knowles

I live in Victoria, B.C., Canada. My husband and I owned a very special Airedale named Pepper. She came into our lives as a 14 week old puppy when her previous owners were unable to keep her. For 13 years, Pepper went everywhere with us with no questions asked and always ready for fun.

I chose to applique an Airedale wearing a crown for this year’s quilt block. They are the largest breed of terriers so are often referred to as “King of the Terriers”.

As we were not able to have another large dog, we chose a female Welsh Terrier 10 years ago. We have found that Megan has many Airedale characteristics packed into a body 1/3 the size. We are often asked, “Is this a miniature Airedale?”.

We also inherited Jenna, a Cairn Terrier, 4 years ago. We enjoy many walks with good friends we have met thanks to our dogs.

In Memory of Pepper

I began quilting in 1998 when I retired from teaching. While searching quilting sites, I discovered “Annette’s House” and the ADT Rescue Group. I was immediately attracted to this worthy cause. This is the 8th bock I have contributed “In Memory of Pepper”.
