Gaelan, Karen, Norton and Shamus.

I am Karen Brown from Gloversville, New York in the Adirondack foot hills.   I am dog mother to Airedales, Shamus and Gaelan, and Norwich Terrier, Norton.  We live in an old farm house on 46 acres of terrier heaven.  Early last year we were able to recruit a tall, handsome, extremely talented "farm lackey" and best buddy Jim.  Blessedly Jim likes dogs and old farm houses that need lots of repairs.

I have been part of the Airedale Quilting Bee since 1999.  I have been fortunate enough to see a couple of the finished quilts at the Montgomery Kennel Club show, and to meet some of the wonderful women who work on these projects.  The quilt projects led me to help with Airedale Rescue in upstate New York and to the folks at ATRA (Airedale Terrier Rescue and Adoption) who placed my Gaelan with me.  He has been the most loving and devoted companion.

I have worked with the Fulton County Association for Retarded Citizens for 34 years as the director of residential programs for adults with developmental and mental health disabilities.  I still find the work immensely rewarding, challenging and stimulating.  In my spare time I garden and make quilts for the people I love.  Life is good!
