Perdida

Perdida (Dida) is the Spanish word for stray or lost. This was a perfect name for this 4 year old skinny, scared, untrusting, stubborn Airedale. Our early days were difficult at best for this poor waif truly did not like humans, male or female. She was certain anything smaller than her was something to eat. The first 6 months were so difficult because she would bolt for open doors and gates and petting was out of the question as she would put her mouth on your hand or arm. She did not bite but she had to be sure of what your intentions were.. After a lot of loving attention she began to understand that we were here to care for her. She loved chew bones, rope pulling anything rowdy. She loved to walk in the pastures around our neighborhood often finding something to pick up including garden snakes. She was a very adventurous girl. She had a loving side and would comfort anyone who seemed to be sad. Her greetings were always too excited her only fault. On many occasions she would sit in front of her master who was watching TV and stare at him until he realized that it was supper time. Her Vet always kidded us that she was so happy that she would be running across the yard and keel over, that's almost the way she went. She was in absolute control of her fenced 1 acre yard. Meter readers would not come in the yard not knowing that she would probable have licked them to death. We adopted her in 1997 and she passed in 2007. A beautiful companion for 10 years she is greatly missed.
