Rehomed Airedale

Merry Christmas from Jacob the snowdog!!! Christmas has been good to me since I came to live with my forever people in February of 2001.

I had a rocky start and still won't tell all the story, but I was found by a nice lady at the intersection of Highway 200 at Seely Lake, Montana. She saw me there on the road, alone, for two weeks and finally was able to coax me into her car for the ride to Missoula Animal Control. She was concerned that I would get hit on the road and was sure I was alone, she was right.

Although I hated that kennel at Animal Control, the people there are wonderful and did their best to find me a home in the country. My first try I kind of overwhelmed the family, being a puppy and all, they brought me back to Animal Control in two weeks because I was just too much for them to handle.

So, my face went back up on the internet and I was spotted by some Airedale savvy folks who just had lost their male Airedale to health problems recently. They seemed nice enough and after I cried and whined in the kennel, I heard the guy say "we just can't leave him there like that" so, off I went to my new home. There I found two older dogs, a female Airedale and a Brittany. Boy, did I have to go to boot camp! I learned not to fight them for food and all the other house rules, but I thrived in a structured atmosphere and came to love my new home right away.

Within the next 6 months, the two older dogs both went to the Rainbow Bridge to meet their friend and their people still miss all three if them greatly, but I am doing everything I can to help fill that void. Some day, when we all get to our last home here in Montana [my Dad is a house builder so we move every few years right now], I will get another Airedale friend to show the ropes, Mom says a girldale will come to live with us and be our friend. I suppose I will have to learn to share again, but I have grown up a lot and don't worry about protecting my food anymore. Life is good!

Best wishes for the holidays and remember, for every homeless Airedale, there is a forever home, you just have to keep looking until you find it.
