Megan and Rose.

I live in Victoria, B.C., Canada. My husband and I owned a very special Airedale named Pepper. She came into our lives at 14 weeks and for 13 years she went everywhere with us - no questions asked and always ready for fun! We dearly miss her loyalty and playfulness. As we were not able to have another large dog, we have chosen a female Welsh Terrier. We are discovering that Megan has many of the delightful characteristics of the Airedale packed into a small body.

For my quilt square, I have recalled a favorite memory of Pepper. One very wet summer, we were at a campsite next to a farm in Nelson, B.C.. For some reason, unknown to us, Pepper and this Holstein calf formed an instant bond. They found delight in running back and forth along the fence whenever we walked past. This continued daily for the length of our stay. Unfortunately, we didn't think to take a photo but the image remains clear in our memories.

I began quilting soon after I retired from teaching in 1998. While searching dog sites on the web, I came across "Annette's House" and ADT Rescue. I was immediately attracted to such a worthy cause. This is my second year contributing a block to the quilt raffle in memory of Pepper.
