Daphne.

My name is Cindy Gravatt and this is the second time  I have made a block for  the rescue quilt. My family consists of my husband Bill, daughter Katie 18 and son Riley 16, along with Daphne a 7 year old Airedale, Jake a 3 year old fox terrier/poodle mix and a 75 gallon salt water fish tank.

I have been sewing since I was 8 and quilting since 16 (31 years). I have an online and mail order quilt pattern design business Cedar Creek Quilt Designs.

We were adopted by Maggie, our first Airedale in 1996. She passed away suddenly in March 2003. Maggie was smartest dog I have ever known. She could turn on the water faucet outside when she needed a drink and would open the door to let herself inside. All though she would not turn off the water or close the door behind her, like most kids.

While searching for an Airedale quilt, to make to honor Maggie, I came across the Airedale Quilting Bee group. It is an honor to be a part of this great group.

My block depicts a dale and her feline friend napping. While I do not have a dale that would be so kind with a cat, I have seen several bee member’s photos that show it can happen. The block was made using machine appliqué.
