It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to say that the Wiles Family helped our dear Skeeter cross over the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, June 5th.

A fast growing tumor in his left sinus cavity had given him a continual nose bleed, took away his eyesight, his hearing, and his ability to keep his balance and walk by himself.  Confirmation of the tumor was made by radiographs, and after consulting with his vet, the decision was made to ease his suffering and pain.

He arrived in Oklahoma Airedale Rescue in 2006, about 8-10 years old, malnourished, positive for all three tick diseases, terrible calluses on his elbows, hairless patches all over his body, and a fatty cyst on his shoulder the size of a softball.  Despite all his health issues, he was a very handsome dog, beautiful head and neck, and proper tail dock.  Skeeter had a birth defect, nerve damage to the left lip area, which gave him a smirk in his smile.   We resolved almost all of his health issues and he became a member of our Pack.   Shy with strangers, but I never had to correct him, and I often remarked he never left the honeymoon stage.

And so the time passed, 3 years and how he graced our lives, which now doesn't seem nearly  long enough.  He always howled at the Tornado Siren test done at noon every Saturday.  Other dogs in the neighborhood joined the chorus.   He taught the other foster “Dales"  "the ropes" and his only needs were food, a soft bed, and our love.

His spirit filled our house and we will struggle to heal our hearts. We know he's restored to good health and has met up with Amelia, Chloe, Bailey, Holly and Annie.  He was a gift, and will forever be fondly remember as such.
