Elizabeth's childhood dream of owning an Airedale came true 22 years ago, when she met the owner of her first rescue at a dog show. Introduced by a mutual friend, the woman asked about Elizabeth's Welsh terrier and the Welsh terrier breed; the conversation naturally led to Airedales.

Elizabeth said she hoped one day to have an Airedale as well (her grandparents had had an Airedale), whereupon the woman said in a disgusted tone of voice "I've got one you can have!"

Biting her tongue, Elizabeth made arrangements to visit and rescue the Airedale, a wonderful 4 year old Airegirl who was living in their barn. Miss Raine helped to raise Elizabeth and John's 2 children, as well as their Welsh terrier!

Elizabeth has volunteered for Airedale rescue ever since. Several years ago, when 8 Airedales came into rescue in the Richmond, Virginia in one month, Elizabeth founded Airedale Terrier of Virginia (ATRVA).

Elizabeth has also served at the national level of Airedale rescue as Consultant and Secretary. She is currently Chairman of the ATCA Rescue and Adoption Committee/President of the Board for National Airedale Rescue (NAR).

She is a member of the Airedale Terrier Club of America and the Virginia Terrier Club. She is also a volunteer for WTCares, the rescue branch of the Welsh Terrier Club of America.

Elizabeth and John are currently the parents of Miss Annie (aka Anna Banana Badness and Miss Bossy Boots) and Master Scot (Brierby's King of Scot's Legacy, aka Chick Magnet).

Airedale Information

The ATCA Rescue & Adoption Committee maintains and updates a network of contacts across the country to aid in the re-homing of purebred Airedale Terriers who are lost or abandoned. These contacts are volunteers located in several states, as well as Canada, working to help Airedales in need, adopting them to permanent loving homes.
