Bert Krause

After 15 years, 2 months, and 10 days Bert is resting in peace.  His first 6 years were pretty bad, but the last 9-1/2 years he spent with Jim and Kay were wonderful.  Bert is the author of Bytes from Bert www.airedaleterriers.org/swat/newsletter/bertsbytes

To all my friends ...
Hi, Bert here.  If you are reading this short note then I have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge.  I instructed Dad to send this message when the time came.

Please don’t be sad, I’m not.  I am happy that I had the opportunity to meet you and I will never forget you.  Just like Will Rogers, I never met a man, or woman, who I didn’t like.  I am thankful for all the ear rubs and back scratches that you have given me over the years, and for those of you who invited me into your home.

I want to especially thank all my “Aunties” involved in Airedale Rescue:  Auntie Melissa in Phoenix who found me my forever home.   Auntie Rose in Phoenix who cared for me many, many times when Mom and Dad went on a trip.  Auntie Sidney in Tucson who created Bert’s Bytes.  Auntie Rusty in Las Vegas who rescued me and got me to Phoenix.  Auntie Dorothy and Uncle Will in Albuquerque.  Auntie Jan in Wasilla, AK who held an Airedale get together in my honor when we were there in 2008.  It’s because of your hard work and dedication that so many lucky dogs like me find a warm, loving forever home.

How can I thank the most important people in my life?  I reckon that after all these years my heart finally got tired from hauling around all this love that I have for my Mom and Dad.  You have given me the best years of my life, so what more can I say than “I love you”.   But I bet you already knew that.

So I leave you with this thought.  Be kind to your pets, and be kind to each other.  We’re all in this together.

Good bye.
Your friend,
Bert

Airedale Information

The ATCA Rescue & Adoption Committee maintains and updates a network of contacts across the country to aid in the re-homing of purebred Airedale Terriers who are lost or abandoned. These contacts are volunteers located in several states, as well as Canada, working to help Airedales in need, adopting them to permanent loving homes.
